STUDENT INTERN The purpose of the DEQ Student Internship program is to employ undergraduate and graduate students in fields of study that provide students with work experience and exposure to the environmental regulatory processes and the business operations of a governmental entity.
Through this program, students will have increased awareness of environmental matters and encourage students to pursue environmental/governmental careers.
The criteria for eligibility are, students must be:
Enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate or graduate institution.
Pursuing an education in a directly related curriculum to the Division that they will be working for (i.
e.
BS/MS in Biology for OES/Permits, BA in Accounting for Fiscal Services, etc.
) Verification of enrollment from the University will be required upon hire.
The verification must be on official University letterhead and include the students name, status (full-time or part-time with the number of hours enrolled), and classification.
Students do not need to be registered during the summer sessions in order to be qualified for student status.
However, if they graduate in the spring semester, proof of enrollment for the fall semester must be received in order to continue employment under the internship program.
STUDENT WORKER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Duration of the program is 8 to 10 weeks, with 40 hours worked per week.

The job locations are Statewide because LDEQ has multiple regional office locations:
Internships are based throughout LDEQ regions and headquarters.
However, only positions working in the Surveillance division are available in the regional offices.
All other positions are in Headquarters in Baton Rouge.
Vacancies may be filled in any of the following locations:
Headquarters - Baton Rouge, Acadiana Regional Office - Lafayette, Bayou Lafourche Regional Office - Lockport, Kisatchie Central Regional Office - Pineville, Northeast Regional Office - West Monroe, Northwest Regional Office - Shreveport, Southeast Regional Office - Harahan, or the Southwest Regional Office - Lake Charles.
Work location preferences will be indicated on the application and applicants will only be considered for employment in those selected locations.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
